They have had an inconsistent campaign thus far, with eye-catching moments offset by defensive lapses or moments of weakness. However, on a European stage, often teams can adapt and find success, and perhaps Nice's trip to Spain will be their failing or poverty moment. 

Celta's return to European competition has visibly been an emotional experience. A disappointing opener away to Stuttgart was quickly transformed, however, after a brilliant and spirited home win against PAOK 3-1, where the hope and belief that Celta Vigo belongs on this stage was reignited. Their form at home may tell a more sobering tale, as they’re winless in their last nine La Liga matches, though their home resolve is commendable. Celta are unbeaten at Balaídos in their last six (W1, D5) and have mastered the art of frustrating opponents and earning points through skillful determination and heart.

Under Claudio Giráldez, the squad has developed a harmonious mix between youthful creativity and experienced leadership. Iago Aspas remains the emotional fulcrum of Celta, leading with a superlative mix of intelligence and passion. He is complemented by the reliable, clinical finishing of Borja Iglesias, an attacking feature that Celta have often lacked.

For Franck Haise's Nice, this season began in disappointment, with a pair of losses to Benfica eliminating them from the Champions League. They currently sit in a Europa League dogfight after losing the first two to Roma and Fenerbahçe, which puts an incredible urgency on needing points. Still, Nice recalled their form, which saw them earn three points against Lyon (3-2) in Ligue 1, highlighting their attacking potential.
