Without a strong running game, the Chargers have had to find other ways to move the ball and it has not been pretty. The 27–10 defeat at the hands of the Washington Commanders revealed cracks on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Justin Herbert dealt with constant pressure behind a sagging offensive line, and their once-feared defence allowed an unacceptable number of big plays.

Nevertheless, hope is on the horizon. While the Dolphins have their share of defensive issues, they may well present the exact opportunity Los Angeles needs to regain their confidence.

Key Player: Raheem Mostert. If the offensive line can block, the veteran running back has the speed to take advantage of the Chargers' irregular run defence. Defensive note: Derwin James Jr will be underwhelmingly requested to shadow Waddle but provided to cut off Tua when he goes deep on hitters.
